Receive God’s Comfort

Bible Reading: Proverb 7
Bible Text: 2 Corinthians 1: 3-5, 10
The first step in times of despair and tribulation is to worship God and recognize that He is the God of comfort and mercies. You need to know what will deliver victory to you at all times. You cannot pray your way out of what you need to sow your way out of. Paul worshipped Him as a God of all mercies and comfort.
In V4 Paul was testifying of what God had done for him in the past. As we face all manner of sufferings in this race of life…lack is suffering: when you don’t have enough and cannot make the basic necessities of life. You can be denied somethings just because you do the right thing. Paul knew what God could do. He has experienced His deliverance before. He knew it was not time to grumble and complain. Paul is saying i will not allow the devil to steal my evidence. Instead of complaints i will worship.
You see God is the God all comfort. When we say God is a God of all comfort people think in terms of bereavement. Your testimony of God’s working in your life is God’s comfort.
Paul worshipped God. He knew that God was deserving of Praise.
- He knew God was a God of mercies.
- He knew God was a God of all Comfort.
In 2 Timothy 1:12 He said I am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have kept in His hand. Paul says I know Him and that he is fully persuaded. Do you know Him? He said he is fully persuaded not half-persuaded. Why is he so fully persuaded? He is fully persuaded because of the evidence of having experienced God’s hand at different times and he called that evidence into remembrance when he said he is fully persuaded that God is able to keep what he has kept in His hand. So instead of despair, he gave God praise.
John 14:15-18
Whether we lose something or gain something Gods comfort is constant and will be with us forever. So if you are losing your comfort then is suspect because it is probably in your own wisdom or strength or friendships that you have. If your comfort is from God then money or no money you are still comforted.
Some of you have face reproach but God is going to comfort you. Some of you have been in the same spot for a long time but listen God is going to comfort you with progress.
God gives comfort because the reason is so we can comfort others who are going through what we have been comforted from.
