For His Name Sake
FOR HIS NAME SAKE | Pastor Oluyinka Ahove | August 27, 2017
Psalm 23:1-3 | Proverbs 19:21
The greatest tragedy in life many believe is death. But the most tragic thing in a man’s life is not death but living a purposeless existence. It is living and not knowing why you are alive. I always pray one prayer and that is Lord let me live before I die.”
Life is about purpose and not existence.
KEY QUESTIONS YOU NEED TO ASK YOURSELF
- Who am I? If you do not know who you are then your circumstances will define for you who you are. The devil will seek to define who you are. Your environment or family or geographical location are competing to define who you are. The most important question you need to ask and to find an answer to is who you are. What you do is not what defines you. Whose you are define who you are. So you r identity is not defined by your profession or vocation. It is defined by who created you.
- Where am I from? Where you are from is not your state of origin. It is just where you landed. You are from above in the kingdom of God. That’s your address. You do well to know where you are from. It will help you live before you die.
- Why am I here? God said to Jeremiah I knew you before you were formed in your mother’s womb. There is no one on earth who does not have a purpose. Your parents are just channels through which you were brought here. That’s why you are not a mistake. No matter the circumstances of your birth or your parents you were brought here by God and so you have a purpose. As you didn’t bring yourself here then it is not your responsibility to heal or provide for myself. It’s God’s responsibility. You know that whatsoever God has brought into this world will succeed. It just cannot fail because to fail is to soil His reputation. So beloved you and I are here for His name sake.
9 For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off. 10 Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. 11 For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.Ezekiel 20: 9
But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.
It is for my name sake that I will bring the blessing not because you are a good tither or a faithful worker in church. Whatever God has created and all it needs to succeed is inbuilt. No manufacturer create a product to fail. A manufacturer puts his name on his product. And God has put His name on you so you can’t fail. The most important thing that God wants to protect in your life is His image. If a product is not functioning well the image of the manufacturer is at stake.
Every product comes with a manual. And most people hardly read it. In a manual the first thing you will see is the image of the manufacturer followed by what to do for the product to function maximally and then what not to do. And then there is the warranty section promising to restore any defect. All this is done by the manufacturer to protect his image. That is why God is the restorer. When there is an issue and you go to him He will fix you up. And it is for His Name’s sake.
But most people don’t read the manual and then because of lack of information they misuse the product and it begins to malfunction. This is what happens to us if we don’t read God’s manual for our life. The Bible is God’s manual for us. That is why if God says no to premarital sex and you engage in it the product is already malfunctioning. That is why some of the decisions we make puts God’s image in disrepute.
Many marriages are malfunctioning because of violating what the manual says about marriage. So when a marriage is malfunctioning it is a bad illustration of the Marriage of the Lamb because the marriage on earth is supposed to be an illustration of the marriage of the Lamb to His church.
Psalm 100:3
3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
So why do we grumble about our situation? It is He who made us and if something is wrong we should go back to Him. There is an instruction in the manual that says do not repair by yourself. The company takes care of it. Sometimes when you take to the manufacturer they fix or even replace the product. This is to protect their image. That is why image is the first thing God said about creating man. Let us make man in our own image.
My healing is on Him because the manual says so. But a lot of time we practice Do It Yourself.
Don’t DIY rather refer to the manufacturer. Your healing is on Jesus. Your prosperity is on Him. Jeremiah 23:11 say it. According to Isaiah 48:17-Your profiting is on Him. Read the manual.
Do It Yourself don’t Work. Refer to the manual.
Your glory is on him. He guarantees it. Isaiah 43 says it. We are created for His Glory. The revelation of the Glory is on Him. Your victory is on Him. All I need to do is to ensure that I follow the manual and if something is wrong all I need to do is to refer to the manual.
So God will do all that is necessary for your success because you are his product and His product was manufactured to succeed.
So if you are going to succeed it takes a plan. And you will have to stick to the plan. You have to give success what it demands you to succeed in life. So God will do everything to ensure you succeed but you must ensure you walk according to the manual.
He will provide comfort show up for you justify you and restore you for His Name sake. So God expects you to follow through the discipline of living according to His manual in order not to malfunction.
