Moving From The Familiar To The Fantastic
Genesis 13; 14-18
Proverbs 29; 18
If a person does not know where he is going, everywhere will look like his destination. Vision is simply a revelation of where you want to be. There has to be something that brings focus to life and it should be written down, so as to make it clear. The plans God has for us are always bigger than we can imagine; they can often scare us. This is where faith comes in. God wants to be the balance between ourselves and the actualization of the vision, your faith in His ability to fill in the gap that seems too big, is what gets His mercy and grace involved in this vision.
We must learn to see beyond where we are and not be discouraged by what we see around us; we must also be able to step out from our comfort zone, in order to achieve what God has set out for us to achieve. No man or woman destined for greatness in the Bible came into glory without stepping out of their comfort zone. On a trip to Ijebu, my driver and I were lost, heading to a dear friends house. It was dark and without street lights. I started to complain about the situation, suddenly, my driver, on assessing the situation said “torch light go sell for this place oh”. With this, the Holy Spirit showed me that in order to truly rise, we MUST be willing to look beyond our surroundings and gaze upon the vision. WHAT DO YOU SEE? An opportunity to complain about a situation or an opportunity to provide the solution.
Joseph, in the Bible is a perfect example of a person who pursued his vision regardless of the discomfort it caused through; his brothers despising him, selling him off as a slave and being imprisoned. Joseph never got deterred from his vision, regardless of what he saw around him.
Components of vision
You must see the vision; we are all blessed with a destiny from God. Talk to your father and listen.
Be convicted about your vision; There will be discouragers. Do not be deterred by the words of men, for He that is in you (who has given you the vision) is greater than he that is in the world.
You must identify with it; Speak of your vision, align your actions with this vision.
Investment in your vision; invest you time and resources to what you wholly believe God for.
Focus on the dream; see it, think it and act on it and you will have it.
